Linux news

I spent last night compiling the 2.4.0 Linux Kernel. Everything went very well. While it was compiling I downloaded KDE 2.0.1.

I took me about two and a half hours to get both of these downloaded and setup on my Dell Latitude and I’m very happy with the results.

Also, I finally finished my news database so I can easily update this news page with a form.

Happy New Year

It’s a new year so I’d better update my site. I’ve changed the layout a little. My Operating Systems section was starting to get a little crowded so I seperated it into a Linux section and a Windows section. Let me know if anything is broken.

Scripting

I’ve spent the last few days working on a web application to allow administrators to manage users from a web page. This kind of thing is pretty easy using and .

Once the code is stable I’ll put a detailed description on my programming page. Check back in a day or two.

Two new articles

Two new articles have been added to the windows section on Home Directories and Logon Scripts. Now if I can just find some decent looking graphics for the site…

Broadband

We finally have cable modems in Paris, and the performance is unbelievable. I’ll never go back to dial up Internet access. Use my new e-mail address now – anthony@anthonylewis.com.

I also decided to stop selling computers. I’m going to try to dedicate more of my spare time to studying programming and Unix. If you were planning on buying a computer from me, I’m sorry I won’t be able to help you now. I can still help you with prices and features.

Software news

My redesign is just about finished. Let me know what you think about it.

There’s also some interesting news to add today. According to Blizzard, Diablo II will not be released until the first part of next year. What will I ask Santa for now?

The good news is Samba 2.0.6 was released yesterday. This new release fixes many bugs and adds a few new features. This is great news for anyone integrating Unix and Windows computers.

Hopefully I’ll have some really interesting news to post Monday…
